COVID-19 Updates Regarding 2020-2021 Tryouts

The club has consistently put our utmost priority on the safety and well-being of our players, and it is no different during this difficult time. As many of you are already aware, we have decided to limit our in person tryout to only new players coming into the club. This has allowed us to have all the safety initiatives in place to guarantee an appropriate and safe evaluation environment.

To make clear, Academy and 13U tryouts that were set for next week, May 26-29 will be conducted on field, as an in person tryout, and reserved for new to IAFC players only! All those that played at IAFC last year in our Academy Program do not need to attend in person tryouts next week.  All those that played in our Recreational Program are considered new and would need to attend tryouts next week.

To make clear, Select tryouts that were originally set for June 2-5 will be conducted next week, May 26-29, as an in person tryout, and reserved for new to IAFC players only! All those that played at IAFC in our Select Program last year do not need to attend in person tryouts next week.

Tryout Format
In alignment with the USYS and Georgia Soccer guidelines, every age group will attend, in your specific times, and they will be evaluated during a series of small-sided matches, respecting a ratio of 1 coach per 9 players. Coaches will have the necessary Personal Protective Equipment on during the whole time of the event. Every age group will play for 60 minutes.

We understand that many families will not be comfortable or confident sending your player to a tryout with the mentioned format. In this case IAFC will make available an individual evaluation option as displayed above for all players within the 2010 to 2002 age groups. In this format players will be technically evaluated in a series of activities positioned in stations and conducted by the DOC of the age group. *For 2013, 2012, 2011 families uncomfortable with in-person tryouts, please reach out to DOC John Downey, [email protected], to discuss the options for your athlete. The families that choose an individual evaluation have to contact the club’s Director of Coaching no later than May 24th.

Health and Safety Measures
We will be conducting a drive-thru check-in system to ensure the safest check-in of players prior to on-field evaluations.  Vehicles will be directed to stop near our main gate entrance, and both parent and player will remain in their vehicle to complete a health screening questionnaire given by one of our staff members.  If you can fill the health screening questionnaire prior to tryouts, please do!

Upon a successful completion of the screening, the player will then be asked to exit their vehicle and have his/her temperature taken to assure they are not experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms, such as a fever.

The questionnaire will be signed by parent or guardian, and the player will receive their tryout number, and the drive-thru check-in process will be complete. All players that are feeling ill or have been exposed to an individual experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms should not attend tryouts and should contact the DOC of your age group to alert them to your circumstances.

Staff members conducting the screening will be required to wear the adequate PPE, such as masks and gloves, and all equipment used (pens and clipboards) will be sanitized after each age group session.

At the conclusion of a tryout session, cars will be directed out of the parking lot and out through the main gate by a staff member as the next age group session is checked-in and allowed into the parking lot.

Players will be asked to comply with additional measures such as:
-Strict use of soccer balls provided by the staff. Those will be sanitized prior to every group attending and whenever deemed necessary.
-
No touching of any cones, regular size or pugg goals, or any other equipment placed on the field of play.
-
No sharing of any material such as shin guards, tapes, headbands, water bottles, towels, or any other hygiene product.
-
If waiting on the side lines, the player should keep 6 feet distance from another tryout participant.
-
Refrain from contact when celebrating goals or successful plays.
-
Refrain from using the bathroom as it will be for Staff use only.
-
Sanitized training vests will be used by only one player, so players must not take it off and hand it to another player.

Parents after completing check in will be required to:
-
Stay inside of your vehicle until the players are dismissed from tryouts.
-
Refrain from engaging in conversation from one vehicle to another in the parking lot.

In addition to this Inter Atlanta will make sanitation stations available across the fields with, but not limited to, hand sanitizers, cleaning wipes, face masks, disposable gloves.
